Promoting Sailing Heritage and Sustainable Food Culture

Our Team

Our team is made up of expert traditional sailors, boatbuilders, food & travel lovers and members of our coastal community of the South West of England. We are based in Cremyll, at the beginning of Cornwall, just opposite Plymouth.

Meet IBIS . . .

A Cornish lugger built in 1929 by Percy Mitchell of Mevagissey and Port Mellon

Ibis is the biggest fishing lugger built in the previous century by Percy Mitchell of Mevagissey and Port Mellon. Percy built Ibis during the summer of 1929. Ibis was a successful fishing boat who brought fortune to the coastal communities she served. She was re-launched this summer after two years of restoration thanks to the National Heritage Lottery Players.

The Sail Trade
South West Values

Heritage

We are dedicated to sharing the rich sailing heritage of the South West of England. Our team of experts has spent years restoring historic ships to their original glory. Our goal is to provide a way to recreate the historic shipping connections now lost in the modern day and bring to life the beautiful tradition of sailing with a special focus on encouraging young people to learn seamanship and boatbuilding skills in order to keep the heritage alive.

Sustainability

Our focus is on promoting sustainability in all aspects of our supply chain. Using the power of the wind, tide and the hard work of our team, we are able to bring produce from the World to the South West for all to enjoy. We also promote the use of local produce in home and professional kitchens around the southwest, encouraging communities to think and act in an alternative way to sustain the planet.

Community

Each member of our community plays a vital role in the success of our voyages. While not everyone can hoist a sail or climb a mast, we all play a role in keeping alive the heritage of these boats and a passion for food and nature. With each voyage we connect with our past so that our communities can identify themselves through their heritage and foster a sense of dignity and equality in human relationships.
