What is sail training

Sail training is not learning to sail, it is learning to live together afloat and develop transferrable skills. Being part of a crew means learning to work together, respect each other and the boat that keeps you and everyone else safe.

A sailing experience on a sail training boat improves character building and develops self esteem in every young person who takes part.

Y0uth At sea

This project is led by the Plymouth and Seafood Association. Young people from the city centre learn to fish with rod and line under sail. They learn about Ibis fishing history and how important fishing has always been for our coastal community. With the support of expert fishermen and tutors they work together to sail the boat and fish whilst drifting on the tide. Catching some fish to bring back home for supper is exhilarating and fulfilling!
