Sea Salt & Sails

Wooden hulls, tall spars and billowing canvas fill Mounts Bay, turning Mousehole into a living maritime painting. Sea Salts and Sails is a vibrant celebration of the village’s fishing heritage, recreating the sights, sounds and spirit of a bygone era.

Every two years since 1996, historic and classic vessels sail in from across Mounts Bay, the UK, Ireland, Brittany and beyond, gathering deep within Mousehole’s ancient harbour. Crews thread their boats through the narrow granite entrance — some under sail alone — just as generations of fishermen once did. Rich in atmosphere, the festival offers music, stories, boats and local food, creating an unforgettable feast for the senses and an excellent opportunity to join in a number of vairous teamwork challenges.
